Andaman and Nicobar Islands national highway extension
In 2019, a new and ambitious national highway project was launched in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India. The aim of the project was to improve traffic safety and road durability, especially given the islands’ harsh climate and monsoon seasons, which bring intense rainfall and difficult weather conditions. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are known for their beautiful yet challenging landscape. The area’s road infrastructure is vital to the development of the local community and tourism.
The project used StabilRoad® technology, which was used to widen a road approximately 55 kilometers long and 5.5 meters wide. The first road section was completed in 2019, after which extensive testing and monitoring was carried out. The results of the testing were very positive, so it was decided to complete the construction of the entire road using the StabilRoad® method. The project was completed by March 2021.
The widening of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands National Highway was a successful project that demonstrated the benefits of using StabilRoad® technology. Thanks to StabilRoad® technology, the national road of the islands is now stronger and more durable, offering a safe and comfortable traffic option for the residents and visitors of the islands.
